The 37-year-old star knew she was in hot water after pleading guilty last year to several counts of tax evasion on earnings of around $1.8 mil, but we doubt she expected this outcome!!
Lauryn delivered a statement in court today and compared her situation to slavery — she said:
The judge ordered the singer to report to prison by July 8, but it's still unclear precisely where she will spend her time behind bars.I was put into a system I didn't know the nature of. … I'm a child of former slaves. I got into an economic paradigm and had that imposed on me… I sold 50 million units … now I'm up here paying a tax debt. If that's not likened to slavery, I don't know what is.
